I received this email just before the holidays and decided to check this out myself. I know I needed this reminder since Sears isn’t always my first choice. Amazing when you think of how long the war has lasted and they haven’t withdrawn from their commitment.
Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?
How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up.Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.
This is their answer to an email sent to Sears regarding this practice e-mail:
Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.Bill Thorn

What are your thoughts on Sears policy as it relates to our military? Do you know of other stores supporting our troops? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

It seems all of Canada has discovered this beautiful Palm Springs Desert area! As we all know, the Canadian dollar is stronger than it’s been in the past 25 years. Home prices in our California Desert are also attractively priced. These two factors are driving many Canadians to invest their dollars in our Palm Springs real estate.
Many of my clients, of late, are from Vancouver, West Vancouver, Alberta, Calgary and Saskatchewan….all looking for some great buys in real estate………and there are plenty of extremely well priced vacation homes to choose from!
How are the Canadians finding me? They are going to Google and searching for Palm Springs Real Estate or Palm Desert Real Estate. My website appears on the first page of the Google search engine so they contact me. I’ve been able to help many Canadians find some great buys in today’s marketplace! I’ve also helped many Sellers sell their homes as well.
I also realize the importance of “being more than a Realtor” to clients looking for vacation homes, often thousands of miles from their primary homes. Because of this, I try to help them get “settled in” by providing them the names of: handymen, plumbers, electricians, doctors, security companies, etc. I find this is just as important as helping them find just the right home.
I’ve been in the “People Business” since 1965. I make every effort ”Using Old Fashioned Service with New Fashioned Technology” in all by business dealings. I believe it’s important to match people’s lifestyles with the communites they will be investing in.
The next time you, or someone you know, wants to work with a Realtor who truly “listens” to their wants and needs…just give me a call.
Here’s wishing all of you a Happy, Healthy and Propserous Year Ahead!

Can you believe that Santa Claus is making his yearly visit in a week? Within a few days your family members will be arriving to make the holiday memories for the year 2007. I’ve researching some ideas on how to make the holidays memoriable and I came across some great ideas. There is something for everyone and maybe a new family tradition can be created.
1. Nature Holiday Decorations: Send the kids on a Nature Treasure Hunt for the kids. Give the kids a basket and ask them to search the neighborhood for pine cones, twigs and anything that can be put together into basket and then decorate it with colored glue, ribbons or even paint. Three rocks the same color could even be painted to look like a desert snowman.
2. Homemade Gift Tags: Keep the paint, colored pens, colored glue and crayons out and gather some extra scissors and tape for some homemade gift tags. With a little creativity basic paper can be transformed into memorable gift tags, placemats or even personal cards
3. Schedule a Game Night. With all the stress and fuss everyone has experienced over the last few weeks, a fun relaxing night of games could be the perfect way to reconnect with each other. If you have younger children visiting be sure to include them in the fun. It will be a great tradition to carry forward from year to year.
4. Create a pre-party party. The night before any big celebration ask a few party goers to come over and assist with the pre-party setup. It could be a great opportunity to share recipes while enjoying more intimate moments with some of your guests. Your friends and family will love the opportunity to help you and have special time with you during the holidays.
5. Share other traditions. This might need a little pre-planning but it will be well worth it. Ask your family and friends what traditions are important to them and besure to incorporate it. You could ask them to lead the tradition and share it with the entire party
The holidays should be filled with cheer and a wonderful time with the ones we love. I wish you all the best and a very happy holiday season to you and your entire family.

Now that the holidays are here and the shopping frenzy is surrounding us. Everyone is constantly looking for the perfect gift for that someone special in your life. Well, I’ve found a few that could solve your Holiday present dilemma. These are really great gifts for anyone.
What do you get the person that has everything? Well, here are some suggestions…
Perfect gifts ideas to help with the holiday season.
1) The gift for him – Sharper Image has a key chain that stores up to 31 images. This key chain is a great way show off pictures of children and grandchildren.
2) The gift for her – Purse hooks are the newest accessory for women. A woman should never have to put her handbag on the floor or on the edge of a chair where is can fall off. The purse hook hangs from the table and allows the purse to be off the floor and on display. Perfect way to help prevent your purse from getting a bit too far away. They come in a lot of great designs so you will find the perfect one of that special person.
3) The gift for that cute little boy and that adorable little girl – “The Dangerous Book for Boys” It is hard not to list everything this book has to offer but to name a few; how to read pirate flags, how to make a bow and arrow, how to do magic tricks and even poems boys should know. And for that girl who has everything “The Daring Book for Girls” is full of projects, to name a few; games to play at a slumber party, how to press flowers and five karate moves. These books are so enjoyable the whole family will sit down and thumb through them.
