Thousands of little children have been spending hours agonizing over what scary outfit to wear for this year’s Halloween Celebrations! Goblins of all sizes will soon be running from house-to-house yelling “Trick or Treat.” Halloween traditionally falls on October 31st, but is often celebrated the weekend before the 31st.
Other favorite Halloween festivities include Costume Parties, Carving the Jack-O-Lantern, Bonfires, Bobbing for Apples. Playing Pranks on your Friends, Telling Scary Stories, Watching Horror Films and going to Haunted Attractions.
Halloween is a time for celebration and superstition. It’s long been thought of as a day when the dead can return to the earth, and ancient Celts would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off these roaming ghosts.
Although the superstitions and beliefs surrounding Halloween may have evolved over the years, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people can still look forward to parades, costumes and sweet treats to usher in the winter season.
A WORD OF CAUTION: Be very careful driving during the days surrounding Halloween. Oftentimes little ones can be seen darting out into the street, forgetting to look for approaching cars. And most importantly, check your child’s “bag of goodies” before they eat them. Unfortunately, not everyone is kind, and some can be down-right mean and nasty at this time of year.
So here is wishing you a wonderfully spooky and scary Halloween this year. And be careful not to let the goblins get you!
